🎲 Triple Yahtzee

A Bigger Challenge for Yahtzee Fans

🧩 Overview

Triple Yahtzee takes everything you love about the classic game and multiplies the excitement by three.
Played with the same five dice and thirteen categories, this version challenges you to fill three entire score columns instead of one — rewarding both luck and long-term strategy.

Invented as an advanced variant for devoted players, Triple Yahtzee is the perfect choice for those who enjoy deeper decision-making, longer sessions, and the thrill of watching scores build over time.

👥 Number of Players

  • 1 to 4 players (best with 2 or 3).
  • Great for solo play if you love chasing high scores.

🎯 Goal of the Game

To achieve the highest combined score across three separate scorecards.
Each game uses the same thirteen categories as regular Yahtzee, but every roll can be applied to Column 1, 2, or 3 â€” and once a box is filled, it stays locked.

Your task is to plan ahead: balance risk, aim for key bonuses, and decide when to play safe or go bold.

🧮 Gameplay & Structure

Triple Yahtzee follows the same basic rhythm:

  1. Roll five dice.
  2. Keep any dice you like, re-rolling up to two times.
  3. After the final roll, choose a scoring category and which of your three columns to record it in.
  • Column 1 scores normally.
  • Column 2 scores are doubled Ă— 2.
  • Column 3 scores are tripled Ă— 3.

đź’ˇ The deeper you go, the greater the reward — but also the risk!

🧾 Scoring Categories

The categories remain identical to classic Yahtzee:

SectionCategories
Upper SectionOnes, Twos, Threes, Fours, Fives, Sixes (+35 bonus if ≥ 63)
Lower SectionThree of a Kind · Four of a Kind · Full House · Small Straight · Large Straight · Yahtzee · Chance

Each column has its own totals, and at the end you combine all three columns for your grand total.
If you score extra Yahtzees after your first 50-point Yahtzee, you still earn +100 bonus points per extra roll.

🧠 Strategy Tips

  • Use Column 1 for safe, consistent scoring.
  • Reserve Column 2 and 3 for bigger combos once you’re warmed up.
  • Keep an eye on your upper-section bonuses â€” a 35-point bonus per column adds up fast.
  • Manage your risk: sometimes saving a category for a future triple payoff is worth it, but don’t leave everything for last.

đź•’ Game Length

A full game takes 35–45 minutes depending on players.
Longer than classic Yahtzee but equally fast-paced once everyone knows the rhythm.

🧾 Recording the Score

You’ll need a Triple Yahtzee score sheet that shows three columns side by side.
Each player tracks all 13 categories per column, then multiplies Column 2 and 3 accordingly before totaling the score.
